TheDesert.com News Letter - issue 1 - Nov. 2006 No. 1
Introduction
Welcome to the first newsletter of TheDesert.com. My aim is to provide a regular source of interesting and useful information for anyone who has an interest in the world of innovation and change. Most of the innovation and change, which takes place in the world today, seems to come from the Internet, Telecommunication or the Computing industry. The world is going through a major revolution based on the introduction and further development of the Internet. This does not mean that there is no innovation and change in the other industries or professions. There is rapid change in all the major activities of human beings living all over the world. However, it seems that the Internet is by far the most interesting and challenging activity in our everyday lives and certainly gets the most coverage from the media.
The Internet has focused our attention in much more intense manner then any other event in our recent history. For anyone who is living and working in a developed nation it is impossible to ignore the significance of this technology in their everyday lives. Even for the rest of the world who live in the less developed countries the barriers to entry or participation in the Internet revolution have come down so low that they are now able to enjoy the benefits of this revolution to a significant level.
If we take the example of a major development such as the telephone, which is nowadays influencing and controlling access to the Internet. The common availability of the telephone to many people in the third world took decades from its initial introduction in The Western Economies. Indeed it is only recently with the advent of the cheap digital exchanges and more importantly with the introduction of the wireless (mobile telephones) telephony that the numbers of telephone users has increased rapidly. In comparison, Internet usage is doubling every five months or so worldwide.
Since innovation and change is taking place so rapidly it is not always possible for a busy business executive or principle decision maker to keep up to date with what is going on in the world around them. It is my aim to provide a source from where the reader can quickly and efficiently gain knowledge of the new technologies and new ideas within the Internet, Telecommunication and Computing Industries. From time to time I will look at other subject matter such as management theory and practice or other socio-economic subject matter which maybe of interest to me and the reader.
It goes with out saying that no one can provide a single source of information which will cover all the innovation and change which is going on in the world and which is of interest to a particular individual or group of people. If you see something of interest and feel that this would be of interest to our readers then please send it in. I cannot promise to use everything you send in but will try to do my best. Please make sure that you provide detailed information on the source and accuracy of your information. The more sure I am about its accuracy and authenticity then the more likely I am to include it in a future Newsletter.
I will try to provide the best and the most accurate information I can. The aim is to provide general information of innovation and change. If you need to make a business or personnel decision then you must do your own research or take professional advice. TheDesert.com cannot accept liability in any form on how you use the information contained in this Newsletter. Please see terms and conditions of use.
I hope you will find this Newsletter interesting and useful.
